Crystallization of compounds from DMSO. Although DMSO possesses strong solvent power across many classes of organic compounds, its strength is drastically effected by the addition of water, and alcohols. A study was performed in our laboratory using randomly chosen solids. The solids were dissolved in DMSO, and water was added to the cloud point of the mixture. Moderate to quantitative yields were obtained, of isolated, crystallized product.
