Gaylord Chemical & Hunt Refining Announce Agreement
Gaylord Chemical and Hunt Refinery have just announced the completion of a long term manufacturing and licensing agreement wherein Hunt will utilize Gaylord Chemical’s technology to build and operate a DMS plant that will supply DMS exclusively to Gaylord Chemical. The agreement will allow Gaylord Chemical to expand its DMS and DMSO capacity by approximately 70% and will include a significant capacity expansion of Procipient™. The expansion enables Gaylord Chemical to remain the world’s largest producer of DMSO.
Construction activities are currently underway and the plant is expected to be complete by mid 2010. Gaylord Chemical will also relocate all of its DMSO production to the site located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama by the end of 2010.
Gaylord Chemical will operate our current production site in Bogalusa for a period of time after the new DMS facility comes on line in order to meet all of our customer commitments and minimize disruption to both our customers and to the DMSO marketplace. We do not expect our specifications to change for any of our currently offered grades.
