Usage/Handling Precautions:
Keep away from sources of ignition. No Smoking.
Personal Precautionary Measures:
Avoid breathing vapor.
Use with adequate ventilation.
Avoid all contact with eyes or skin.
Wear appropriate protective equipment.
Storage Precautions:
Store away from oxidizing agents in a well-ventilated, cool and dry location far from sources of heat or ignition.
Protect containers from physical damage.
Exposure Limits:
ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV®): 10 ppm
OSHA (USA) Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL, 2004 Table Z-1 or Z-2 values or section-specific standards):
Not established.
ERPG's (AIHA2004): ERPG 1 = 0.5 ppm
ERPG 2 = 1000 ppm ERPG 3 = 5000 ppm
Personal Protection:
Eye/Face: Safety glasses. Chemical goggles. Face shield.
Respirator:
If strong vapor or mist is present, use organic vapor chemical cartridge respirator, self-contained or supplied air
respirator. For vessel entry use self-contained or supplied air respirator with full facepiece.
Protective Clothing:
Where splash or mist potential exists, wear chemical worker's goggles and butyl or nitrile rubber gloves. Other
protective equipment such as aprons, rubber boots, face shield, or rubber suit may be needed. Eye wash stations
and safety showers should be readily accessible near use areas.
Other:
Do not smoke in areas of storage or use. Employees who handle dimethyl sulfide should wash their hands
before eating, smoking, or using toilet facilities.
