Artie McKim,
Ph.D. Dr. McKim has worked in the chemical industry in a research and development capacity for ten years, in the areas of new product synthesis, process optimization, and new product development. He started with Hochst Celanese at the Technical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he participated in the synthesis of new chemical products at the benchtop and piloting levels. He has been with Gaylord Chemical since 1999, leading the development efforts at our Bogalusa laboratory. Artie earned his Ph.D in synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of North Texas in 1999, under Regents Professor Alan P. Marchand. Areas included in his expertise and interest are macrocyclic ether/azacrown synthesis and cryptand/clathate technologies, NMR spectroscopy and general heterocyclic synthesis. Recent interests include the synthesis of an unusual class of organic azides, and exploring the chemistry of these compounds. Dr. McKim earned his MBA from Louisiana State University in 2006. |
