Dimethyl Sulfone (DMSO2) possesses physical properties that are needed in organic additives used in the production of powdered metal and ceramic precision parts. DMSO2 is a polar material, with a relatively low melting point and heat stability at normal processing temperatures (<275 ºC). In producing parts, DMSO2 will sublime from the compact leaving no harmful residual.
Gaylord Chemical Company L.L.C. has exclusive information on the use of Dimethyl Sulfone as an ingredient in water-soluble binder systems for powdered metal injection molding (MIM) and as a key ingredient in lubricant systems for die compaction applications.
